David S Goyer to pen screenplay of `Fantastic Voyage` remake

Los Angeles: David S Goyer has been tapped as an executive producer and screenwriter for the revamped version of the 1966 sci-fi classic `Fantastic Voyage`.

James Cameron, Jon Landau, and Rae Sanchini will be producing the project through their Lightstorm banner, reportedly.

No director and cast have been officially confirmed yet. Set during the Cold War, the film follows a team of scientists who are shrunk to atomic size and sent in a miniature submarine inside the body of a scientist to save his life.

Paul Greengrass, Shawn Levy and Louis Leterrier were among the directors rumoured to helm the project, while Will Smith and Hugh Jackman were reported to have been approached for the lead roles.

Goyer has written the screenplays of `Blade` trilogy, and Christopher Nolan`s `Batman` trilogy. He has also directed films like `Zig Zag`, `Blade: Trinity`, `The Invisible` and `The Unborn`.
