Denzel Washington honoured for his long movie career

Los Angeles: American actor Denzel Washington has been honoured for his longstanding movie career and contribution to cinema.

The 55-year-old actor has landed three Golden Globes and two Oscars since he shot to stardom in the 1980s and was appreciated for his work at the Harold Pump Foundation Gala organised here, StarPulse reported online.

The annual event raises money for cancer care and Washington was full of praise for the organisation as he took to the stage to accept his award.

"It`s nice to be honoured, that`s great, but the point is to get people in here to raise money. My wife`s father passed away from cancer, some can give money, some can give time, it`s whatever you can give," Washington said.

Apart from Washington, Boxing great Muhammad Ali was also honoured for his sporting career at the ceremony.
