Disney chiefs wanted to fire Depp from first ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

London: Johnny Depp has revealed that Disney chiefs wanted to fire him from the first ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie because they could not understand his performance.

Luckily for the 48-year-old actor, his role as Captain Jack Sparrow became the most popular feature of the franchise.

During an interview in CNN with Larry King, the ‘Sleepy Hollow’ star also said that the studio was so fearful that people could not understand what he was saying while in character, that they even contemplated subtitling his dialogues.

“I’m very happy to explore all possibilities of a character and really, you know, dive into the role,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

“They didn’t understand the character. They were actually contemplating subtitling the film,” he added.
