New York: The movie ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ has caused a frenzy with every actress in the Hollywood industry doing her best to grab the role of the homicidal, binge-drinking bisexual Lisbeth Salander in the flick.
"There aren`t that many good parts out there these days. Every chick wants to play it," The New York Post quoted one producer as saying of the adaptation of the best-selling novel.
Director David Fincher has already rejected Natalie Portman, Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan and Emma Watson.
However, Rooney Mara, 25, whom Fincher directed in the upcoming ‘The Social Network,’ Léa Seydoux, 25, of ‘Robin Hood’; and two unknown Australians, Sohie Lowe, 20, and Sarah Snook are all in the running.
What makes the role especially meaty is that the girl, who gets this, will also be locked in for the sequels – ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire’ and ‘The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet``s Nest’.
"Fincher will have to make a decision in the next week or two," said an insider.
Daniel Craig has been cast as fearless reporter Mikael Blomquist. Robin Wright will play his sometime lover, magazine editrix Erika Berger.
"Fincher wants an unknown, but it changes on a daily basis," the insider added.
