Los Angeles: Actress Jane Fonda has been tapped to play former first lady Nancy Reagan in director Lee Daniels film ‘Butler’. Fonda, 74, is famous for her roles in movies like `Period of Adjustment`, `Cat Ballou`, `Barefoot in the Park`, `Klute` and `Monster-in-Law`. Fonda will appear in a handful of scenes as the first lady of the US in the film which is based on a report reported. The picture follows Eugene Allen, the White House butler whose career started with Harry Truman in 1952 and ended in 1986 with Ronald Reagan.
Forest Whitaker is set to play the title role of Allen, while Oprah Winfrey is in talks to play his wife. David Oyelowo is in negotiations to play Allen`s son, while Liam Neeson and John Cusack are circling presidential supporting roles as Lyndon B Johnson and Richard Nixon, respectively. Daniels is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Danny Strong.
