Jeremy Renner in fifth `Bourne` film
New York: Actor Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Aaron Cross in the fifth film in the `Bourne` franchise.
Universal Studios has shown a green signal to another movie in the spy thriller franchise, as they have hired screenwriter Anthony Peckham to pen a script for the movie, reports deadline.com.
The 42-year-old`s first brush with the franchise came with the 2012 film `Bourne Legacy`, in which he starred alongside Rachel Weisz.
Initially, Matt Damon played the key character Jason Bourne in three films of the franchise - `The Bourne Identity` (2002), `The Bourne Supremacy` (2004) and `The Bourne Ultimatum` (2007). But then, he stated that he wouldn`t return to do another `Bourne` movie unless director Paul Greengrass, who helmed the 2004 and 2007 movies, also returned.
