Katy Perry in talks to star in BGT star`s biopic
London: Pop star Katy Perry is currently in talks with movie mogul Harvey Weinstein for a possible role in his upcoming biopic on `Britain`s Got Talent` star Paul Potts.
Weinstein`s film company is producing a film about the former Carphone Warehouse salesman, who leaped to fame when he won the first series of BGT in 2007, reported Daily Mail online.
The producer admitted he had spoken to Perry about possibly playing Potts` wife Julie-Ann in the film.
"I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon. We would really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts` wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested," Weinstein said.
The film, entitled `One Chance`, will be directed by David Frankel, who helmed `The Devil Wears Prada`.
Weinstein and Frankel are currently in secret negotiations with a British actor to play Gloucs-born Potts.
The `Kissed A Girl` hitmaker Perry filmed what would have been her big screen debut in `Get Him To The Greek` in 2009, but her cameo was edited. However, last year, she voiced Smurfette in animated film `The Smurfs`.
