Michelle Williams to be honoured at Palm Springs Film Festival

London: Michelle Williams will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Actress award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 2012.

She follows in the footsteps of Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron and Naomi Watts, who are the earlier recipients of the award.

“Every generation, the cinema has a few performers who mesmerise audiences. Michelle Williams epitomises these qualities as she continues to accept challenging role after challenging role,” the Daily Express quoted festival chairman Harold Matzner as saying.

It has previously been announced that actress Glenn Close will pick up a Career Achievement Award at Palm Springs.

George Clooney will also be honoured with the prestigious Chairman’s trophy.
