Expect the unexpected when you have Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Salma Hayek and David Spade in a flick, for Dennis Dugan’s ‘Grown Ups’ is a riotously funny situational comedy that keeps tickling your funny bone till its very end. In ‘Grown Ups’, you won’t find the archetypal Sandler, cracking scatological jokes on human anatomy for the actor graduates to a more mature role – much like that of ‘Bedtime Stories.’ The film revolves around the reunion of five thick friends (Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, David Spade and Kevin James), who meet after thirty years to attend the funeral of their treasured basketball coach. All the friends stay at their late coach’s lake house with their respective families. However, this reunion proves to be an exhilarating laughter riot as each friend and his family has its very own weird way of life which surely leaves you in splits. For instance, take Kevin James four-year-old overweight son who has not given up breastfeeding. Sandler’s kids don’t know how to play without latest gizmos. Chris Rock is distressed over the fact that his wife does not appreciate his culinary skills and does not take him out on dates. Rob Schneider is in love with a lady old enough to be his mother and then you have David Spade, who even ogles at his best friend’s daughters. ‘Grown Ups’ is a situational comedy which unravels the chemistry between five friends, who meet after a long time. They crack jokes, laugh and take digs at each other even as they reminisce their halcyon days. The comic timings among all the actors is nearly perfect, for each actor gets his/her due screen presence and does not get eclipsed by Adam Sandler. Kevin James is hilarious with his antics. ‘Grown Ups’ is a complete family entertainer you will love to watch with your family and friends. Ratings: Three cheers for this one!
