‘Rum Diary’ on way to become Depp’s biggest box office flop

London: Johnny Depp’s latest movie Rum Diary has become one of the biggest flops of his career.

It made just 3 million pounds in its opening weekend in the US while it had cost 28 million pounds in making.

The makers hoped to regain almost a quarter of that cost in showings across more than 2,000 US cinemas, the Sun reported.

The movie was a personal one for the star as he plays journalist Hunter S Thompson, a close personal friend of his.

Depp had financed the journalist’s funeral when he shot himself dead in 2005.
