Washington: Steven Spielberg has confirmed that he has appointed Peter Jackson to direct a sequel to their new 3D blockbuster ‘The Adventures Of Tintin’.
The acclaimed director has previously expressed his desire to follow this year’s animated action adventure with two more installments, based on the comic books by Herge. ‘The Adventures Of Tintin’ was released to rave reviews in Europe in October this year and went on to debut at the top of the box office in 17 countries, making an estimated 55.8 million dollars in its opening weekend. The movie is due to open in North America later this month. However, its international success has already inspired Spielberg to go ahead with his sequel plans. Now the director has confirmed that the first Tintin sequel will be Jackson’s next project. “The Thompson Twins (Tintin characters) have a much bigger role in the next Tintin movie that Peter Jackson is going to direct. It’s being written right now and he’s directing it after he does The Hobbit and I’ll produce it with him as he’s produced this with me,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying. “We have the story and we have the book we’re adapting from Herge and we can’t wait to get started,” he added.
