Barun Sobti’s decision to quit IPKKND draws the curtains down on the show Zeenews Bureau

Mumbai: Lead actors quitting popular TV shows and new actors replacing them is no longer news. But Barun Sobti has certainly made headlines by brining down the curtains on ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ (IPKKND) by deciding to quit the show.

Sobti, who became hugely popular following the success of the show, is firm on his decision and hence the channel airing the show has decided not to look for a replacement and instead decided to go off air.

Talking to Hindustan Times, an insider said, “People wrote in and not only questioned the reasons to his quitting, but they also accused the production house of not doing a good enough job. And now, the channel has decided to not carry the show without Barun.”

“The makers planned to continue the show by introducing another male lead character. But the audience’s reaction to Barun’s decision to quit has left the channel with no other option,” added the insider.

Sobti also expressed his views and said, “Usually people can’t leave after a year and it’s tough. But I was taught by my father at an early age that taking decisions is important — whether they are right or wrong. If you take a decision in time, even a bad one can turn into a good one in the long run and vice versa.”

Barun’s decision to quit from this show is really disappointment for us. We use to habituate to see him on screen.. But, no regrets... let him come on big screen with 100% success like SRK .. he was also started his carrier from small screen.. and became no. 1... So... all the best Barun... Looking forward to see you on big screens - Renu - Hyderabad
Barun quitting is similar to Bhagyashree's and Amar Upadhaya's decision to quit when they were at the top of their career graph. While I wish him success I hope he realises that 90%of his fan loved "Arnav Singh Raizada" To the point of madness. The writers were really good and I hope the rest of the cast do not suffer for this one decision by Barun. - Mamta - Noida
