Britney Spears wants ‘Smash’ role

Washington: Britney Spears is reportedly in talks for a role in NBC’s musical drama ‘Smash’, which premiered on February 6, 2012. According to a magazine, the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker has met with producers of the musical drama and they are working with writers in a bid to find a fitting role for the pop star, a website has reported.

If she does, it won’t be the pop queen’s first TV acting gig. She started out as a regular on kids show ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’ and has appeared on ‘Glee’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘Will and Grace’.

‘Smash’ chronicles two wannabe theatre stars fighting for the lead role in a fictional Marilyn Monroe musical. The all-star cast features Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty.
