Hyderabad: ‘Indian Idol 5’ winner Sreeram Chandra today thanked all those who had sent SMSes for his victory in the competition.
"I thank all those who sent SMSes for me. I thank the print and electronic media in Andhra Pradesh for their support," he told reporters at his residence at Bowenpally here tonight.
Sreeram arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here from Mumbai this evening to a tumultuous welcome by his fans.
A large number of people of all age groups thronged his residence to have a glimpse of the new Indian Idol, even as many others, including children, waited till late in the night to get his autographs.
Sreeram mingled freely with the fans and danced in happiness.
"I am very excited to be back at my home after four long months," he said.
Sreeram`s mother Jayalakshmi thanked the media in Andhra Pradesh for their support to her son.
Several Telugu channels and news papers had conducted a campaign appealing the people to vote for Sreeram in the contest as two singers from Andhra Pradesh - Hemachandra and Karunya -- had ended runner-ups in national-level music-based reality shows after failing to get enough SMSes in the finals.
