Mumbai: Vipul Mehta, who was crowned the winner of the sixth season of singing reality show `Indian Idol`, dreams of lending his voice to Bollywood actor Sunny Deol.
Hailing from Amritsar in Punjab, Vipul, who started learning classical music at the age of eight, won the title here last night at the grand finale. "I am really happy to have won the title. This is just the beginning of my journey in the music industry. I would love to sing for Sunny Deol, I really like him. To lend voice to him would be different and challenging," Vipul told reporters. "But I would also want to be a versatile playback singer and be the voice for every actor in the industry. If a music director wants me to a sing a particular kind of a song, I should be able to do justice to it," he said. Vipul walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh from Sony channel on which the show was aired, a Nissan Micra car, a Suzuki Hayate bike, Rs three lakh from Max Life Insurance and a contract to record his own music album. "When I reach home, I would first party hard with my friends as they really supported me a lot by conducting campaigns and helping me garner votes," he said. In 2008, Vipul had participated in another singing reality show `Voice of India - Season 2` but could not make it to the top three. "I had a lot of pressure on me this time as I couldn`t win `Voice of India`. Also, the judges had highs hopes from me since I was a consistent performer and versatile singer," he said adding that, however, the experience of that reality show helped him in facing the camera. Apart from singing, the 22-year-old wants to compose music. "Before I came on `Indian Idol`, I used to compose music for my own songs. After winning the show I would work hard on my singing, and rehearse more. Also, I would learn all the aspects of being a music composer," Vipul said adding that he does not want to get into acting. `Indian Idol 6` was judged by Asha Bhosle, Anu Malik, Salim Merchant and Sunidhi Chauhan.
