New Delhi: Of late, Bollywood has been taking help from its cousin – the small screen- for film promotions. But you may wonder what’s new in this trend. Well, upcoming horror films like ‘3G’, ‘Aatma’ and ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ are banking on Hindi TV shows to reach out to the masses.
Given the fact that TV shows have a mass appeal, a lot of production houses coming up with horror films, are resorting to this tactful promotional strategy to draw audiences to the theatre.
‘3G’ actors Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan hosted the last few episodes of Zee TV’s popular show ‘Fear Files’ based on real life supernatural incidents. Following suit, Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s new show, ‘Ek Thi Nayika’, will have 8 popular TV actresses unfolding the daayan mystery along with actor Emraan Hashmi. This series will be aired March 9 onwards and is meant to promote the film ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ all set to be released in April 2013.
Joining the band wagon is the ‘Aatma’ team that has found a platform in a TV show called ‘Arjun’. Lead actress of the film, Bipasha Basu will make her presence on the show to spread the word about the movie. ‘Aatma’ also stars actor Nawazuddin Siddique and is one of the most-awaited horror films of 2013.
Therefore, dear readers, the moral of the story could be derived as small screen is only a so-called term!
