New Delhi: After Bengali and Telugu, the National Geographic Channel is now available in Tamil, as a result of the channel`s quest of strengthening its regional presence.
The channel was already available in English and Hindi, before being launched in three regional languages in less than a year.
"After successfully launching in regional languages like Hindi, Bengali and Telugu, we are extremely excited to bring the dynamic programming of our channel to the doorsteps of the Tamil speaking community," Debarpita Banerjee, senior vice president (marketing), National Geographic Network and FOX International channels, said in a press statement.
Through its 24-hour Tamil feed, the channel will showcase its range of science, technology, history, culture, nature and wildlife based shows.
Southern actress Shriya Saran launched the Tamil version of the channel in Chennai Wednesday.
"I have been an avid fan of the channel for a very long time and I strongly feel that the launch of the channel in Tamil will give a large community of Tamil speaking audience a chance to experience the awe inspiring programmes on National Geographic Channel," Saran said.
