Oprah to host last talk show in stadium
Los Angeles: Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is planning to host the finale of her talk show in a huge open-air football stadium.
The 56-year-old TV mogul will host a star-studded finale in September 2011 when `The Oprah Winfrey Show` will end its 25 years run on American television.
She wants to move the production from her Chicago, Illinois studio to the city`s 61,500 capacity Solder Field, the home of the Chicago Bears football team, in a bid to pack in a bigger audience, TV Guide reported.
But Winfrey has admitted the notoriously unpredictable climate in Chicago could scupper plans for an open-air finale. "I don`t know if that`s going to happen. You can never count on Chicago weather," Winfrey said.
An emotional Winfrey had announced last year that her iconic daytime talk show will soon come to an end. The show was first aired 24 years ago on September 8, 1986 from the city and has since featured over 28,000 guests.
Winfrey has announced a slew of new programmers for her upcoming channel `OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network`, which will launch on January 1, next year.
