Mumbai: Actress-filmmaker Renuka Shahane will debut on small screen as a judge of a popular Marathi comedy show `Fu Bai Fu`, the new season of which begins on Zee Marathi from May 11.
Renuka, was one of the contestants of the last season of `Jhalak Dikhala Ja` judged by Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit.
The actress is not new to television having anchored shows like Surabhi on Doordarshan with Sidharth Kak, Antakshari on Zee TV with Annu Kapoor.
Recently, she hosted a `Yala Jeevan Aise Naav`, a talk show on Zee Marathi. In 2007, she featured in a Sony TV daily soap `Jeete Hai Jiske Liye` with Ayub Khan.
Renuka who starred in serials like `Kora Kagaz`, `Sailab` earlier, told PTI that television is not exciting as an actor for her anymore.
"Daily soaps have made actors mechanical. There is no time to think and act which can mould you as an actor," she felt.
Renuka said good reality shows which help to promote good skills like comedy, singing suit her. "I am ready to do that as a participant, host or judge," she added.
The , who became famous for her role of elder sister of Madhuri Dixit in `Hum Apke Hai Kaun`, said she is not at all serious in real life. "I love comedy. Due to the serious roles I did, I think I got stereotyped," she said.
"In fact, some years ago, I got an award for a comedy play Yalkot in which I featured in with Nirmiti Sawant, who is now my co-judge in Fu Bai Fu,"she said.
The actress said she would have agreed to be a participant in the show if asked. "I have no expectations from the show that I will start getting comedy roles in movies or serials. I just want to enjoy," she added.
