New York: Britney Spears has even got Simon Cowell taken aback with her harsh comments on ‘The X Factor,’ with the media mogul calling her “surprisingly mean.”
The 30-year-old singer made her debut on the reality show’s judges’ panel recently and was harsh on the participants denying the hopefuls left and right. “I thought it was just kind of bad,” the New York Post quoted her as telling the fitness instructor Amy Gibson. “The singing came in, and it wasn’t very nice,” she told 21-year-old student Josh McCoy. She said to another contestant, “I felt like I was listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks.” Another contestant got a mouthful “I think you’re like Vanilla Ice meets Lauryn Hill meets ‘West Side Story.’” The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker was notably tough on a 32-year-old singer who previously had recorded a duet with Spears. “Maybe you’ve gone through a lot of hardships and battles, but your voice isn’t up to the bar of ‘The X Factor.’” Another sharp-tongued comment was, “I wanna know who let you onstage. I feel uncomfortable with you even staring at me.” Cowell himself seemed to be taken aback by the harsh words that spears said to the participants. “And everybody thinks I’m the mean one,” he said. When asked to comment on Spears’ judging skills, he added: “She’s the new Queen of Mean.” ANI
