London: Simon Cowell is said to be “desperate” to offer superstar Adele a mega-bucks judge’s job on his reality show ’The X factor’. The 52-year-old music mogul reckons the singer will bring extra credibility to his show after her mega awards success this year.
Additionally, producers are putting together a lucrative deal to lure the chart topper amid fears she could be too busy to commit. Show supremo Cowell recently spoke of his admiration for the feisty 23-year-old.
“Adele is an incredible story. You wouldn’t have predicted this years ago when we were such an image-infatuated business,” a leading daily has quoted him as saying.
He also reckoned that the ‘21’ hitmaker could be a massive hit on the US version of his hit show.
“Here is somebody who has done everything her own way, gone back to basics and achieved this incredible success.
“She’s one of the most down-to-earth people you’ll meet and she hasn’t changed a bit,” Cowell said.
Cowell launched the American version of the talent competition to mixed reviews and so-so ratings last year. The series was hit by controversy when Cheryl Cole was fired after just a few weeks and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger. He has since admitted he was “cocky” and made mistakes, firing Nicole and fellow judge Paula Abdul this January.
The ‘Someone Like You’ singer Adele would replace one of the axed judges and sit alongside Cowell and returning panelist LA Reid, 55. Another source close to Cowell revealed “money is not a factor” when it comes to luring Adele over to the US.
“Simon is always looking for new directions and ideas,” the source said.
“He thinks Adele’s success and achievements are incredible. He recognises that true musicianship and a serious approach can bring a lot of credibility and an extra dimension to his show,” the source added.
