Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' gets premiere date

Los Angeles: The 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' will officially go on air September 8 after David Letterman takes a bow on May 20.

CBS announced the premiere date for the new show. Colbert, who just said goodbye to his Comedy Central series 'The Colbert Report' will take over the 'Late Show', reported Ace Showbiz.

"It will be parts traditional, though some things he would want to do differently," CBS chief Nina Tassler said at the Television Critics Association of what to expect from the new show.

"He is putting a lot of attention on the show, which he still wants to be topical, relevant and dealing with current events."

Music and guests will definitely be part of 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert', but "whether or not he's going to start with a monologue, he's working on that right now."
