5 Reasons to watch ‘Shamitabh’

Mumbai: Come February 6 and yet another movie of megastar Amitabh Bachchan will hit the silverscreen. And this time, it’s ‘Shamitabh’, a film scripted and directed by R Balki. As ‘Shamitabh’ is just a month short of its release, let’s take a look at some of the reasons why the film is a must watch:

Balki and Big B’s third film together

Whenever this duo has collaborated, they have delivered masterpieces. ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Paa’ testify the point. Balki has an unusual way of storytelling and that’s what makes his films unusually interesting. The filmmaker brings out the hidden shades of the actor in Big B in a way none can. ‘Shamitabh’ too will see Amitabh is a very different avatar.

The deadly trio

‘Shamitabh’ is perhaps one of those rare films which have big names associated with it, though indirectly. Dhanush, son-in-law of megatsar Rajinikanth and Akshara Haasan, younger daughter of legendary Kamal Haasan will share screen space with Amitabh. The film will also mark the debut of Akshara as an actress.

The characters

The characters in the film seem to have unusual characteristics. They come across as surreal primarily because of their complex outlook in the trailer which was launched Tuesday. And hence it would be interesting to see how each of these characters have been sketched and tailored.

Unusual title of the film

Most films have titles that give us a hint about the context and the storyline. But Balki believes in keeping hints under wraps. ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Paa’ have established that.

Music

Legendary music maestro Ilaiyaraaja has composed music for the film. The veteran’s music have always been melodious and a treat to the ears.
