Mumbai: After mesmerising audiences with his performance as mute Barfi in Anurag Basu`s film with the same name, the actor is all set to play a detective in the director`s next ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
The 30-year-old, who was present at the special screening of his film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ here Thursday, confirmed the news.
Letting out that he is playing a detective in ‘Jagga Jasoos’, Ranbir said: "Yes, this is our second film together. It`s a detective film."
The film is set to go on the floors next year. Basu has also written the film.
In a very short time Ranbir has impressed with his acting skills and he gives credit to his late legendary grandfather Raj Kapoor for his success.
"I am standing here just because of Raj Kapoor. He showed me the way," said Ranbir when asked to share some memory of Raj Kapoor, whose 25th death anniversary falls on June 2.
Raj Kapoor, known as the "Showman" of Indian cinema, proved his mettle with his work in ‘Awara’, ‘Shree 420’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker’. The winner of two National Awards, nine Filmfare awards and many other recognitions, he gave a strong base to the Indian cinema.
He died June 2 in 1988.
"I hope he would be smiling at me watching me in the films that I am doing and he is proud of me," said Ranbir, who has carved a niche for himself in his five-year-old career with films like ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Wake Up Sid!’ and ‘Rockstar’ among others.
