Mumbai: After helming rib-tickling comedies like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ with his lucky mascot Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan is back with his latest laugh riot ‘Khatta Meetha.’
Akshay Kumar plays Sachin Tichkule in ‘Khatta Meetha’. He is a bumbling construction contractor and is unable to realise his big dreams. A back sheep of his family, Sachin’s sincerity leaves him as an eternal struggler. However, Sachin’s woes are doubled when a new commissioner takes over the reigns of a municipal office.
Priyadarshan’s ‘Khatta Meetha’ is a satire on the construction sector and the municipal dealings in India. The movie, told through the eyes of Sachin Tichkule, highlights the rampant corruption in the system.
Talking to a news daily on his latest avatar, Akshay said, “‘Khatta Meetha’ is a cerebral comedy about a man caught in an uncommon situation. This slice of film, much inspired by RK Laxman, will get you thinking and have you laughing off your seat at the same time. And like all my other films, this one too comes straight from the heart.”
“Sachin Tichkule is the most intricate character I’ve ever dealt with and Akshay has indeed put his heart and soul to bring the character to it’s zenith. His body language, emotions, dialogue delivery and comic timing has all been done with enough realism and subtlety,” director Priyadarshan said.
“Akshay scored in his role perhaps because he had lived the life of an ordinary man before becoming a star. I’ve seen Akshay grow from ‘Hera Pheri’ to ‘Khatta Meetha’, and I can proudly say that he’s on par with any actor you can compare with today,” added Priyadarshan.
Priyadarshan’s ‘Khatta Meetha’ stars Akshay Kumar and South sensation Trisha.
