Los Angeles: Paramount is expanding the "Transformers" universe into the animated world with an origin story from "Ant-Man" writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

The story will focus on the Autobots and Decepticons on their home planet, Cybertron and takes place before Michael Bay's first live-action "Transformers in 2007, when Optimus Prime and others escape a war-torn Cybertron for Earth, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The fifth instalment in the franchise, which will star "Age of Extinction" headliner Mark Wahlberg, will be written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman.

While there is no announcement of the release date of the fifth instalment, it is expected in 2017 before the animated movie.
