Bearded look helped G.V. Prakash bag role

Composer-turned-actor G.V. Prakash Kumar, who is awaiting the release of his Tamil debut "Darling" Jan 15, says it was his bearded look that landed him the opportunity to play the lead in the film.

Chennai: Composer-turned-actor G.V. Prakash Kumar, who is awaiting the release of his Tamil debut "Darling" Jan 15, says it was his bearded look that landed him the opportunity to play the lead in the film.

"My debut film was supposed to be 'Pencil', but it got postponed by few months. I was little disappointed with that and started growing beard and working out. It was during one of the encounters with producer Gnanavel Raja outside my gym, I was offered 'Darling' as he liked my bearded look," Prakash told reporters.

"I think the fact that nobody has seen me in thick beard made Raja believe that I'll fit the bill. I showed him rushes of 'Pencil', and he was convinced that I could play the lead in his film," he said.

A remake of Telugu blockbuster "Prema Katha Chitram", the film is directed by Sam Anton and features Nikki Galrani and Shrushti Dange in the lead.
