Los Angeles: Director Amy Heckerling is moving forward with her plans to turn 1995 hit film "Clueless" into a Broadway musical.

Kristin Hanggi ("Rock of Ages") will direct the musical with Dodger Theatrical producing, reported Ace Showbiz.

"I've written what they call the book, and it's a jukebox musical," Heckerling said. She said finding the perfect cast to replace Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd for the stage version was a struggle.

"Well casting - that's like going to be like the main problem. Everything goes so slowly. I go, wow, this takes a lot. I thought movies took a long time," Heckerling added of the casting process.

"It's hard to know with Broadway when things will happen."
