Washington:Dennis Quaid will be joining the cast of upcoming film based on the infamous Dan Rather-George W. Bushscandal.
The 60-year-old actor would fill in the role of Col. Roger Charles in the project, which stars Robert Redford as the veteran CBS newsman Dan Rather and Cate Blanchett as the 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes, Deadline.com reported
James Vanderbilt, who adapted the script adapted from Mapes' 2005 memoir Truth And Duty: The Press, The President, And The Privilege Of Power, would be making his directorial debut with the film, which also stars Elisabeth Moss and would begin shooting shortly.
In 2004, Rather had reported on '60 Minutes II' that George W. Bush had gotten preferential treatment that put him in the Texas Air National Guard to avoid the Vietnam War draft. The following Killian documents controversy during Bush's re-election campaign brought down Rather's reputation and had gotten Mapes, his key producer, fired.
The film would be produced by Mythology Entertainment, with Brad Fischer, William Sherak, Vanderbilt and Mikkel Bondesen as producers.
