Los Angeles: Actress Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star opposite actor Rupert Friend in his directorial debut 'Barton and Charlie and Checco and Bill'.

Friend, 33, has written the script and will produce alongside Aaron L Gilbert of Bron Studios and Margot Hand.

Blunt, 31, and the 'Homeland' star last appeared alongside one another in the 2009 docudrama 'The Young Victoria', reported Variety.

The film centres on a grifter who is stuck in a rut and meets a woman who might change everything. They embark on a road trip adventure of con-artistry, disguise, lies and love while pursued by a Confederate newspaper mogul.

Shooting is set to start next year.
