Gene Wilder calls `Charlie and the Chocolate Factory` remake an `insult`

Gene Wilder, who starred as the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka in 1971 ` Charlie and the Chocolate Factory`, has slammed Tim Burton`s remake of the film.

During an interview at New York nonprofit center 92Y on Thursday, the actor lashed out the director`s 2005 reimaging of the Roald Dahl-adapted story, the New York Daily News reported. Wilder said that the movie is probably Warner Bros.` insult. He said that Burton is a talented man, but he doesn`t care for his stuff. Although Wilder dissed the movie, he appreciated Johnny Depp`s rendition of Willy Wonka in Burton`s adaption of the movie and said that Depp is a good actor. ANI
