New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and the makers of upcoming film 'Happy New Year' are trying for unusual ways to strike a chord with the audiences ahead of the film's release. After releasing the film's trailer on instant messaging application 'Whatsapp', the team today came up with another off beat idea to launch the music album. They streamed the music launch event live on video sharing website 'YouTube' to build up the excitement.
The high velocity Bollywood extravaganza began with singer Neeti Mohan's performance on the already superhit song from the film 'Manwa Laage'. Next in line, was a pleasant surprise by the Shillong Chamber Choir, that also performed on the same song.
Neeti Mohan and Shillong Chamber Choirs's song was followed by a short yet entertaining performance by 'Chhaiya Chhaiya' fame singer Sukhwinder on the song 'Satakli'. The playback singer almost set the stage on fire with his distinctive style.
In the meanwhile, music composer duo Vishal and Shekhar were seen enjoying the show with the audience.
After Sukhwinder, came another soulful performance by rapper Dr. Zeus and 'Baby Doll' singer Kanika Kapoor. The duo gave a sneak peek into the beautiful song 'Lovely' which is picturised on Deepika Padukone in the film. And then came the biggest and the most awaited performance of the evening- the 'Indiawaale' song. The song which has already been launched was once again showcased at the event with the entire star cast dancing on the tunes of the party number.
Once all the performances ended, it was now time for the album cover to be officially unveiled. With the entire star cast, the director and the team behind the music present on stage, the album was launched in a interesting style by chanting the magical words- Abraa ka Daabra.
The album covered features the entire star cast of the film with Badshaah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan in the centre. It looks quite similar to the poster of the movie with all the actors in almost the same avatar.
Lead actress Deepika Padukone looked graceful in a golden net saree, while the male actors chose to dress up in formal suits and bandgalaas.
The album launch was followed by a press conference, wherein questions from fans through micro-blogging platform twitter were also taken apart from a volley of questions from the reporters.
All in all the event was as grand as it could have been.
With the benchmark already set so high, the audiences have high expectations from the film and are waiting for something as entertaining and big as the album launch event. Now it would be interesting to see whether the film is worth the hype created or not. Meanwhile, take a breather!
Touted as one of the biggest hits of 2014, 'Happy New Year' is all set to hit the silver screens this Diwali.
