Director Jim Mickle will helm Legendary's upcoming project 'Esperanza', which is based on John N Maclean's book about the life of firefighters battling the 'perfect storm' of wildfires.

Los Angeles: Director Jim Mickle will helm Legendary's upcoming project 'Esperanza', which is based on John N Maclean's book about the life of firefighters battling the 'perfect storm' of wildfires.

The story is set in Southern California. The film's script is written by Sean O'Keefe, said The Hollywood Reporter. Mickle's 'Cold in July' was screened at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

He previously directed the 2013 film 'We Are What We Are' and is the creator, co-writer, EP and director of 'Hap and Leonard', which was recently sold to SundanceTV and is set to premiere in 2016.
