Mumbai: We’ve all been witnesses to how Akshay Kumar has been conspicuously absent from the promotions of his upcoming flick ‘Joker’. While filmmaker Shirish Kunder and wife Farah Khan are busy roping in Shah Rukh Khan to aid them in the promotion of ‘Joker’, sources have revealed that the gesture has not gone down well with Akshay Kumar.
Akshay, whose friendship with Shirish Kunder-Farah Khan was untainted till now, will perhaps never have anything to do with the duo again. Apparently, the bitterness between the three is such that Akshay is not even on speaking terms with Khan and Kunder any longer.
Speaking to a tabloid, a source from the production unit has said, “Akshay Kumar is someone who would never leave a film incomplete. His past record proves that he has never left a film mid-way. He was creatively dissatisfied with the film as he felt cheated that whatever was promised to him was never delivered. In spite of all this, he completed the film and then decided to distance himself.”
“After ‘Jaan-E-Maan’ flopped, he still worked with a script that was written by Shirish and in-spite of the disastrous result of the film, he went ahead and did this film. Akshay was promised that the film will be made in 3D. However, when the film went on the floors, he was told that the film will be converted to 3D and was shot accordingly. However that never happened,” adds the source.
Also, the music of the film too seems to have acted as a bone of contention between Akki and Kunder. The track ‘I want fakt you’ is the one at the crux of it. Says the source, “When Akshay heard the song I Want Fakt You, he immediately objected saying that his fans are family audiences and he would not want the song included in the film. Though the track was changed to Just You, the makers still went ahead and promoted it as Fakt You. The final nail on the coffin was when Farah went and promoted the film with Shah Rukh Khan. Akshay felt hurt and distanced himself from doing any promotions of the film.”
And if you thought the wrath of the Khiladi ended here, you’d be in for a huge setback. According to the source, Akshay will not be even around for the release of ‘Joker’. So while the filmmakers have claimed that the lead actor will enter the arena of promotions after August 27, Akshay will – in all probability – be out of Kunder’s reach and on his way to shoot for Milan Luthria’s gangster sequel.
