Los Angeles: Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon is in talks to write Disney's comedy, "Bob the Musical".

The 52-year-old writer has previously worked on many other projects for Disney and 2004's "Spider-Man 2", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise is expected to star as the lead character of a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone's heart.

Besides "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" writer, Bret McKenzie, who wrote many songs for "The Muppets" and won an Oscar for best original song with "Man or Muppet," has been roped in to compose songs for the feature.

Michel Hazanavicius, who helmed the Oscar-winning 2011 film "The Artist" will director the project that has been in development since 2004.

Tripp Vinson, Chris Bender, JC Spink and Beau Flynn are producing the project.
