Imagine if you get to choose the bride for your brother and fall for her instead? Yes, that is what exactly happens in Ali Abbas Zafar’s romantic comedy ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.’ Starring Imran Khan, Katrina and Ali Zafar, director Ali Abbas uses the fresh pairing of Imran and Katrina, which works wonders for the film. Luv (Ali Zafar), who is down and out after a break-up, asks his brother Kush (Imran Khan) to find a good girl and arrange his marriage. As a dutiful brother, Kush gets down to the business of hunting a suitable bride for his brother until he hits upon Dimple (Katrina Kaif) – a wild child, who also happens to be his college friend. However, trouble starts brewing when Kush starts falling for the charms of bindaas Dimple. A lighthearted and vivid comedy, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ is different from conventional Bollywood comedies. Yet, with the first half of the film capturing the gala preparations of big, fat Indian wedding, one feels all the fun and frolic seems to be forced and over the top. When Ali Zafar arrives on the scene, his spontaneity and natural flair for comedy in addition to the tomfoolery of Imran and Katrina keeps the film alive and refreshing. Overall, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ touches the right chord and doesn’t overkill the fun. The screenplay and narrative is tight and crispy and some great performances by Imran, Katrina and Ali are the USP of the film. ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ is a great watch this weekend! Ratings: Four cheers for this one!
