Mumbai: In Bollywood, Salman Khan may be famous for his viciously eccentric ways, yet the actor has a heart of gold – something which Ajay Devgan swears at large. Ajay and Salman last worked together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s blockbuster ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999) alongside doe-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai. However, ten years down the line, both the actors are once again sharing the silver screen in Vipul Shah’s ‘London Dreams’. Nevertheless, the kind of friendship which Ajay and Salman share is not at all filmi. Both the actors are hardly seen in each other’s company, yet, they are quite an influence in each other’s life. Well, this friendship has a history as their fathers Veeru Devgan (fighter) and Salim Khan (writer) were thick friends. Talking to a newspaper about his friendship with Ajay, Salman said, “We are the second generation, Ajay’s debut film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ came out more or less the same time as I did ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.” For Ajay, “It’s not that we’re in touch but when we meet, we are comfortable in each other’s company.” Speaking on controversies surrounding Salman, Ajay argues, “I know there are 10,000 things being said of Salman, but I’ve not seen that side of him. He’s a great guy, he’s honest with people who he believes are genuine, and never has issues with those that are straight.” For Salman, “Ajay’s the most chilled out guy I know, a super friend, and strangely our film ‘London Dreams’ is about the journey of two friends between whom there is no jealousy, no complexities.” Inspite of the thumping success of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, when enquired why Salman and Ajay did not share silver screen, the latter said, “Actors don’t plan such things, it’s not like I must do a film with Salman, we are hearing scripts all the time, this one seemed like the right one — so we went ahead.” Salman lavished praise on Ajay’s work ethics as, “There’s no back-biting, no stealing of lines, no one-upmanship with Ajay, he concentrates on himself and does not interfere with his co-star, it’s nice working with him, he’s not a chindi-chor, he won’t influence directors or grab your space.” Well, when Salman was all praise for Ajay, Ajay did not miss any chance in eulogising Salman as “there’s no stress, no tension, he’s funny on the sets”. Hmm…that’s Salman and Ajay’s dostana !
