Thane: Thane girl Jayshree Kharpade`s documentary, that won international for projecting the lives of brick kiln workers` children, has been nominated for MY HERO international film festival this year.
MLA from Thane district and Shramjivi Sangathana founder Vivek Pandit today said he has received a communication from Daniel Chavez, an officer from The MY HERO International Film Festival, that documentary film `Fire In Our Hearts` has been accepted as a finalist in their 2012 event.
"Your work will be celebrated online in our 2012 Festival finalist`s page. All finalists will be promoted as part of our ever-growing Global Hero Archive. Over the next few weeks, our panel of judges will finalise their votes, and we plan to notify award winners in each category by November 30th," the message received by Pandit stated.
"We will be screening a small selection of winning films at our festival awards ceremony on December 15 at the University of Southern California`s Ray Stark Theatre," the message added.
MY HERO Project was founded in 1995. The not-for-profit website was built on the belief that people of all ages from around the world would participate by sharing stories, art, and short films that illuminate heroes from all walks of life.
The 27-minute documentary film made by 15-year-old Jayshree Janu Kharpade, a tribal girl from Wada taluka of Thane district, had earlier this year won an award at the Asian American Film Festival held in New York.
