UTV gets the rights of Chetan Bhagat’s latest book

Popular author Chetan Bhagat’s latest book, ‘Revolution 2020’ will soon be on celluloid.

New Delhi: Popular author Chetan Bhagat’s latest book, ‘Revolution 2020’ will soon be on celluloid. The author announced on micro blogging site Twitter that UTV has bought the rights of the film and is eager to turn it into a film. The book which released in October is the story of three central characters, Raghav, Gopal and Aarti and their lives. Speaking to a daily, UTV’s CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur said, “He has crafted a dramatic plot with such sharply defined characters, that you constantly wonder how things will play out. The issues he deals with are those that today’s youth will instantly relate to.” Chetan’s earlier two books have been made into two films while another is in the pipeline. His books ‘5 Point Someone’ was adapted by Rajkumar Hirani and made into ‘3 Idiots’ which became the biggest hit of all time. Salman Khan’s brother in law, filmmaker Atul Agnihotri made a film on Bhagat’s second film ‘One Night At A Call Centre’ which starred Salman Khan, Sharman Joshi and Gul Panag in the lead. The latest news is that Imtiaz Ali has been roped in by producer Sajid Nadiadwala to make Chetan’s fourth book ‘The 2 States’ into a film. Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor has shown eagerness to do the film. While UTV has not mentioned which actors will play the leading roles in ‘Revolution 2020’, news has it that they are in talks with A-listers. Meanwhile, Chetan Bhagat tweeted, “Happy to announce the Revolution 2020 movie deal with UTV. Tell @utvmp who`d make a good Gopal, Aarti & Raghav! (sic)” So who would you want to see essaying the role of Gopal, Aarti and Raghav?
