New Delhi: Filmmaker Prakash Jha has made a niche for himself in the socio-political drama making arena. So far, almost all his films such as ‘Gangajal’, ‘Apaharan’, ‘Mrityudand’ and ‘Rajneeti’, which carry a strong moral or social message, have been received well by the critics and the masses alike.
The latest from his film making factory is ‘Satyagraha’, which stars industry’s famous faces – megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Amrita Rao.
If you go through the trailer, you will find a certain Manav Raghvendra (Ajay Devgn), a father (Amitabh Bachchan) who is grieving the loss of his son, a vicious and influential political figure (Manoj Bajyapee), an ambitious rabble-rouser (Arjun Rampal), for whom action is the knee-jerk mantra and a young woman who fights so hard with life that she has overlooked the emotion called ‘love’.
The film depicts how these characters discover each other and join hands to bring about a revolution to change the system. As the makers define it, ‘Satyagraha’ is also the story of an influential power-hungry despot.
Although the ensemble cast might turn out to be advantageous for the film, only time will tell whether this film is as good as Jha’s previous projects.
Till then go through the trailer and let us know how exciting it looks.
‘Satyagraha’, produced by UTV Motion Pictures, releases in cinemas on August 23, 2013.
