Who stole your heart in the first quarter of 2016 – Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor or Fawad Khan?

Mumbai: Bollywood has had a decent start to year 2016. In the first quarter of this calendar year, we saw a number of films hitting the silverscreen but only a few managed to leave an indelible impact on viewers. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’, Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Neerja’ and multi-starrer ‘Kapoor and Sons’ are three films that garnered rave reviews besides doing brisk business at the Box Office.

Akshay Kumar - Airlift

As Ranjit Katyal, Akshay Kumar highlighted the contributions of unsung Indian heroes who were instrumental in safely airlifting their fellow countrymen from a war-ravaged zone in the gulf region in 1990.

Sonam Kapoor – Neerja

As Neerja, Sonam Kapoor won a million hearts. The film retold the bravery of the head purser of Pan Am Flight 73 which was hijacked in Karachi in 1986, on celluloid. Neerja was gunned down by the hijackers while she was on a noble mission of saving lives of over 350 passengers on board.

Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt – Kapoor and Sons

Unlike ‘Airlift’ and ‘Neerja’, ‘Kapoor and Sons’ was a film that dealt with emotions people have for their family. Starring Pakistani import Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Rajat Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rishi Kapoor, ‘Kapoor and Sons’ revolved around the lives of the Kapoors who shared a complex relationship with each other. The characters were easily relatable and so was the theme of the film.
