Why you must watch Ranbir Kapoor's 'Bombay Velvet'

Bollywood has seen many big-budget films but 'Bombay Velvet' promises to be different. Ranbir Kapoor aka Johnny Balraj

This hot-and happening star has had a rough time with delivering hits of late. With 'Bombay Velvet' ready to release, things look a lot promising for Ranbir, who plays Johnny Balraj—a boxer in this 1960s drama. The trailer has been impressive, and from the looks of it—the film might be seen as Ranbir's most difficult role so far. He proved his acting skills in 'Rockstar' and emerged as one at the Box office window. Now, with 'Bombay Velvet' will he punch the numbers too—only time will tell!

Anushka Sharma aka Rosie Noronha

This tall and talented actress had a happy start to 2015, with great maiden production in the face of 'NH10' marking its way straight into people's heart. The leggy lass looks stunning in her role of a jazz singer in 'Bombay Velvet', and the complete feel to it takes you back in time. Rosie is appealing yet intriguing. Place your money for this one!

Karan Johar as Kaizad Khambata

We have all seen Karan in different roles—that of a filmmaker, producer and as a talk show host. But what's surprising is to see him as an actor, and that too in a negative shade. Yes! Karan will be seen as Kaizad Khambata, who is a Parsi media mogul in the film. The moustachioed look of Karan came as a pleasant shocker when the first look of the film was released. It will be really interesting to see the man who often directs his actors off-screen to play one on-screen. Book you tickets for sure!

Anurag Kashyap--the director

What happens when the arty types meet the classy types—result is 'Bombay Velvet'. The filmmaker, who is well-known for making dark, brooding cinema has for the first time ventured into something as commercial as 'Bombay Velvet'. It has taken around eight years for the brilliant director to finally give a form to this piece of art. We can safely presume that the film will definitely prove to be a game-changer for the cast and the filmmaker too.

Storyline

The film is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book called Mumbai Fables. It shows the city of Bombay in 1960s where the story of boxer Johnny Balraj and Rosie unfolds. The movie revolves around these characters and how they evolve during a coarse of time realising their dreams and aspirations. The trailer and songs have played an important role in building up the curiosity for this period crime drama. We believe that May 15, 2015 needs to be booked asap for cinema lovers!
