Folk rockers The Weakerthans split

Canadian Folk Rockers The Weakerthans have called it quits after 18 years together.

Los Angeles: Canadian Folk Rockers The Weakerthans have called it quits after 18 years together.

The veteran musicians, who formed the group in 1997, have not shared any new music since their fourth studio album, Reunion Tour, in 2007.

Although they unveiled a live project, Live at the Burton Cummings Theatre, in 2010, and collaborated with singer-songwriter Jim Bryson for his The Falcon Lake Incident album, which was released in the same year, reported Billboard.

Now it has been revealed frontman John K Samson, drummer Jason Tait, guitarist Stephen Carroll and bassist Greg Smith have quietly parted ways.

Confirming their split, Tait posted on Twitter, "Word is getting out that The Weakerthans are done. Here's the song we used to take the stage to for years. Bye bye."
