London: Kanye West may have many faults but humility is not one of them.
In an interview with Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1, the rapper called himself the number one rock star on the planet and said he is someone who is pushing the boundaries of art, music, fashion, and culture.
"We culture. Rap is the new rock `n` roll. We the rock stars... We the new rock stars and I`m the biggest of all of them. I`m the No. 1 rock star on the planet," West told Lowe.
The 36-year-old rapper, however, credits Michael Jackson for being the torch bearer in this direction because "there would be no Kanye West if it wasn`t for Michael Jackson".
West said he had reached the "glass ceiling as a creative person".
"I`ve got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down. I have reached the glass ceiling, as a creative person, as a celebrity... And I`ve been at it for 10 years. I look around and I say, `Wait a minute. There`s no one around here in that looks like me."
West is aware of the fact that not everyone would understand him.
"I shouldn`t be limited to only one place of creativity... You don`t realize -- I am so frustrated. Like, I`ve got so much I want to give... And I`ve got a million people telling me why I can`t do it."
It is not perfectness that West aspires for.
"I showed people that I understand how to make perfect. You know, (My Twisted) Dark Fantasy could be considered to be perfect. I know how to make perfect, but that`s not what I`m here to do. I`m here to crack the pavement and make new grounds sonically...And culturally."
