Dubai: Carnatic classical music admirers across the UAE are in for a festival of music, which is scheduled to be held here next week. The 5th EKATA Navratri Mandapam Sangeetholsavam will commence from October 2 till October 10 in Sharjah on all Navratri days.
A musical workshop for music students and Teachers on "Manodharma Sangeetham" (Impromptu music) followed by grand Carnatic classical music concert was conducted by Chennai OS Thiagarajan (Vocal) on Friday, 23 September, as part of the 5th anniversary celebrations of Ekata Navarathrimandapam Sangeethotsavam.Carnatic classical music concert was conducted by Chennai OS Thiagarajan (Vocal) on Friday, 23 September, as part of the 5th anniversary celebrations of Ekata Navarathrimandapam Sangeethotsavam.
Thiagarajan was accompanied by other artists such as Attukal Balasubramanyam (Violin), Cherthala Dinesh (Mridangam), and Thripunithura Kannan (Ghatom).
A musical concert by Kumari Saumya Lakshmi, disciple of Shri OS Thiagarajan, was also presented on the same day. The Carnatic musicians who will be performing on the 9 days of Navratri include Devan Anthikaadu, Mohankumar, Navaneet Varma, Moncompu Rajesh, Adoor Anish, K Omanakutty, Kottayam Santhosh, Pambadi Rajendran and Kaithapram Viswanathan.
250 musicians are expected to perform during the event which will include artists from India as well as all GCC countries. Vidyarambham (Ezhuthiniruthal) ceremony to initiate children to the world of knowledge will be conducted on Vijayadasami day, October 11, at the same venue.
The celebrations marking the fifth anniversary of Ekata Navratri Mandapam Sangeethotsavam 2016 was inaugurated on June 25th this year by Prince Rama Varma of the Royal family of Travancore along with the President of UAE Exchange Sudhir Kumar Shetty.
