Another baggage fiasco for Ustad Amjad Ali Khan

Kolkata: A trolley bag of sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan containing important documents, mobile phone and glasses went missing after he landed here, but it was traced and restored to him.

"We landed at the airport here in the morning yesterday and after arriving at the hotel when I checked my baggage I found the trolley bag was missing," Khan told reporters here.

"I went through tension and anxiety all through the day since the bag contained important documents, my parents` photographs, glasses and mobile phone. It added a discordant note to the trip," he said. He said his sons and the organisers of a programme he was attending here contacted the airlines and the bag was ultimately found in the aircraft which had flown back to

The incident also demonstrated lacunae in security, he said. "They should have checked the luggage hold of the aircraft thoroughly. Imagine if bombs were left behind in the plane in a similar way and went undetected. "I think I should carry my trolley bag myself in future," quipped Khan, who was here to attend a classical music function where he would perform with his sons and wife Subhalakhsmi, to be conferred the lifetime achievement award.

Earlier on January 14, the maestro`s sarod, which was part of his luggage, was damaged at the Mumbai airport after he flew there from Ahmedabad.
