New Delhi: Bollywood playback singers Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher came together to pay tribute to legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika with a song on his name.
The track, which is produced by director-producer Vicckey Goswami, releases on Universal Music today. The three artists have lent their voices to the emotions of the millions who revered the Bard of the Bramhaputra. "I will always hold Bhupen Hazarika very close to my heart. He inspired me a lot. Year after year through his speech, thinking, his songs, his music, his lyrics, he has always given us a message. When I was new to the industry he gave me an opportunity to work with him and sing two songs for his album Ganga. I will always remember him and may his soul rest in peace," said Shaan. Hazarika, who wove a magical tapestry out of traditional Assamese music and lyrics, died on November 5, last year, following a prolonged illness. The track is to remember and cherish the great works of Hazarika rather than mourn his demise, the singers said. "We hope this song will bring joy amongst his devoted fans. We will release a compilation of our favorites soon to carry forward his legacy," said Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director, Universal Music. PTI
