Daler Mehndi goes devotional for ‘I Am Singh’

New Delhi: Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, who is known for his foot-tapping Punjabi numbers, has sung devotional songs in the upcoming film ‘I Am Singh’. And the singer says his faith in the almighty has kept him going strong even in hard times.
The singer, who has been in the industry for nearly two decades, has composed and lent his voice for ‘Dukaalang Pranaasi’ and ‘Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Ehai, Subh Karman Te Kabhun Na Taro’.The 44-year-old says that his faith in god helped him rise in life. "Hardships in life have dragged me around but my savior, my guru, Baba Nanak, always continued to drag me further into his heart, creating my real freedom. So I just keep the faith," Daler said. A trained classical singer, Daler has been singing since the age of six. However, he rose to prominence in 1995 with his album ‘Bolo Tara Rara’, which became an international hit. Daler has sung songs like ‘Rang De Basanti’ from the film of same name, ‘Aila Re Aila’ from ‘Khatta Meetha’ and ‘Bhootni ke’ from ‘Singh is Kinng’. IANS
