Kerala`s highest music award for Yesudas

Thiruvananthapuram: Eminent classical musician and playback singer K J Yesudas has been selected for ‘Swathi Puraskaram’, Kerala Government`s highest music award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian music.

Yesudas was selected for the honour by a jury headed by mridangam maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman, an official release said here today.

The award, named after legendary musician and composer Swati Tirunal, comprises Rs one lakh, citation and memento.

Yesudas had sung in hundreds of films in various Indian languages.
