New Delhi: Having made his presence felt as an emerging pop singer with his debut album "Hey Ya" in 2005, Sarosh Sami`s second but first solo album "Tishnagi" is all about thirst for love.
"`Tishnagi` is an Urdu word which means thirst. Every person has a thirst for something - may be love, music or anything and this thirst is in my songs. The album is a collection of love songs and it looks into colours of love with a lot of depth and meaningful lyrics," Sami told IANS.
"All the songs are in Urdu and it took close to two years to come out with this album," added the 45-year-old.
Released by Twin Soul Entertainment, the album has eight tracks - "Tishnagi", "Rubaru", "Tum ho", "Tapish", "Sun le", "Janaa kya", "Aasmaani" and "Forever green" - all sung by Sami.
"My first album had only two songs by me as it was a compilation of different artists," said the Mumbai-based businessman-turned-singer.
Joint Managing Director of Medley Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Sami is a trained tabla player from the Sangeet Mahabharti Institute. Having started his career as a tabla player before venturing into stage singing, he gradually climbed up to studio singing before cutting an album.
"I come from a business family, but music and singing has been my passion. I started learning music at a very tender age," he said.
Sami has recorded many remixes as well as cover mixes. Some of his popular mixes include Mohammad Rafi`s "Lakhon hain nighaon mein" and the cover version of "Khoya khoya chand".
So will business take a backseat considering his bent towards singing?
"My business remains in its place and it will," he asserted.
The singer has not overshadowed the businessman as Sami believes in proper marketing and packaging of a product for better sales. He has shot two music videos on tracks "Tishnagi" and "Rubaru" from the new album.
"If a song is portrayed nicely then people listen to the song and like to watch it and they remember it for a long time," he said.
He also thinks it is necessary for a singer to star in their music videos. "It is very necessary because people can`t relate to the singer and they just recognise the model in the song then".
Surprisingly this singer has an aversion to reality shows but is game for Bollywood.
"I wouldn`t like to participate in reality shows. I think these don`t benefit anyone and are just for TRPs. But I`ll do Bollywood if I get an opportunity. I also have songs in some films coming up that I cannot name now," he said.
